2-2-16 – Legislators Want to Double the Fuel Gross Receipts Tax

Posted by Rob Roper

Thirty-three members of the Vermont House of Representatives have sponsored a bill (H.841) that would double the Fuel Gross Receipts tax from 1/2% to 1%. This would double the tax on heating fuel and dyed diesel, and would affect ALL SALES of heating oil, propane, kerosene, dyed diesel, coal and natural gas. Electricity is exempt from the tax increase.

Golly, where is Sandy Haas in that list? Did she miss the meeting? This is right up her alley.

This is just one more example of how incompetent the folks in the legislature are. Once the camel is in the tent, it’s katy bar the door on increases or new taxes. What will come next? Increase in sales tax, levying a carbon tax, how about increasing the gas tax, now they want to increase the tax on fuel and home heating oil, also it’s a tax on medical professionals service,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When will all this nonsense stop and these clowns start to live within our means and stop committing funds that don’t exist until a tax is passed or increased??????????? IT IS TIME FOR A BIG CHANGE IN MONTPELIER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We’re tapped out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, last year they raised the income tax based on some BIZZARE reasoning.

This non-sense is something that is predictable from these clowns that have been in the place too long. Term limits need to be considered , but the immediate challenge is to convince these folks that VT is taking enough of our money already, and it just needs to be allocated to the places of true need, and the remainder just needs to be axed. There are people in this list of 33 who live on the New Hampshire border; one would think this woul

would give these folks a reality check. No such luck.
November 2016 is the best solution.
