As a disabled combat veteran living on a fixed income just above the poverty level. This is going to hurt my family bad. This is going to force us to have to move out of Vermont since we can barely afford the heating costs as it is since we don’t qualify for any public assistance.
This state is taxing all of us to death. I can not afford to pay anymore for propane than I do now. It cost me 600.00 a month last year and I expect it to be the same this year. And why are there solar panels in every field around this state? I thought that was going to save us money on our electric bill? It hasnt at all my bill is still 135-185 and thats another scam. This state is doing nothing but scamming all of us. Keep raising the taxes and your going to see a lot of the younger generation leave, they can not make ends meet here.
Politicians will spend it all. No poor Vermonter will see one penny. Gas prices and heating will be higher. Electric rates will continue to rise as they hae over the last few years.
The carbon tax will drive the last nail in the coffin of the working Vermonter. A tax on our heating oil, fuel and god knows what else will kill us. The buisnesses impact ed by the taxes will raise their prices to offset the tax burden and again the working man and woman get hosed. NO carbon tax. For the love of god wake up and see why Forbes has us listed as the 48th worst state to do business in.
This tax would hurt most those people already struggling to get by. Gasoline to drive to and from a job and fuel oil and propane to keep our families from freezing in the winter are NOT luxuries we cannot do without. Besides, electricity is not as clean and efficient of an energy source as these politicians would have us believe.
“Fifty percent of this revenue would be used to subsidize Vermont’s electric utilities for the purpose of lowering electric rates” Why electricity? If it is so cost-effective, it shouldn’t need a subsidy.
The “other half would be redistributed to low-income and rural Vermonters via a rebate scheme.” This is just another way to redistribute the wealth by taxing us all to death, and then giving a little of the money back, after deducting administrative costs paid to officials of an already bloated government and their friends.
No thanks!
